The Ad Club is the trade organization for the New England Communications Industry. Its mission is to advance the interests of its constituents, and to strengthen the bond that has united communications professionals in New England for the past 100 years. The Ad Club sponsors events, forums and development programs to improve the business skills of its members.

AIGA is the oldest and largest membership association for professionals engaged in the discipline, practice and culture of designing. Founded as the American Institute of Graphic Arts in 1914 as a small, exclusive club, AIGA now represents more than 19,000 designers through national activities and local programs developed by more than 55 chapters and 200 student groups.

BoDo is grass-roots-get-down-and-dirty-love-yo-mamma. We’ll talk about serious subjects such as when to bring in a PITA clause, how to keep your clients, and how to fire a client, as well as lighter fare like working in your undies, and how to tell when your down time is up. BoDo has a growing list of visiting authors, all focusing on a particular niche. At present the subjects cover book reviews, business writing, communication management, creative coaching, in-house, new business start-ups, printers and prepress situations. Future authors will cover the business of illustration, blogging for your business, proposal writing, working with contracts, branding and more.

With legitimate design opportunities turning into calls for spec work at an alarming rate, it is NO!SPEC’s goal to arm designers with the tools they need to take a stand against this trend, as well as provide businesses with resources and information on why spec work harms our industry, and alternative solutions to their design needs that do not involve working on spec.
